Newsletters are sent out on a monthly basis to everyone on the Sheepish Mailing List, usually at the end of the month. The newsletter contains a list of all sheepish-related dates in the coming month, together with Guest DJ details, forthcoming live events, and anything else of interest that might be happening. The mailing list is also occasionally used to send out warnings of last-minute event changes, so even if you regularly visit the site, it's probably worth joining the list too.

You can join the list here: Sheepish Mailing List

The list is fully automated, and you can leave at any time. Since setting up the list a few months ago we've had about four email addresses bounce and these are automatically removed. If you've subscribed and not received a newsletter in over a month, it's possible that you are on of the "bouncers" (oo-er!) and made a typo in your address. The system won't let you "join" with the same address twice, so if you are in any doubt (or think that you're missing out!) you can check by attempting to join again.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 4 - April 2004

Postby Paul on Mon Apr 26, 2004 4:29 pm

Hello and welcome to the fourth sheepish.net newsletter!

It's almost May, and we're fighting the post-Whitby blues with seven events on the list this month, including two live events, both on Bank Holidays and both with confirmed late licences! We've also been conspiring with Carpe Noctum and created the wonderfully spurious "West Yorkshire Goth Weekender", full details below!

1. Friday Flock

First Friday of the month: 7th May 2004 (WYGW) - Bar Phono from 9pm

"Don the dark gear and make-up - it's goth but with a contemporary twist" according to the BBC, and who are we to argue! Latest news on the Flock front is that we've confirmed another four dates, so we're now on the first Friday of the month until at least September.

2. Black Sheep

We have a couple of live events this month, so we're only down the Phono on three dates. The Guest DJs are:

9th May - Carpe Noctum DJs (WYGW)
16th May - Mnemosynea (France)
23th May - Tracey (BlackOut)

3. Live Events

2nd May - Vampire Division (Inkubus Sukkubus side-project)
30th May - The Ghost Of Lemora + Screaming Banshee Aircrew

Vampire Divison is the new project from Tony McKormack, a veteran of such bands as Screaming Dead and Night Creatures, but probably best known as the guitarist and primary songwriter for Inkubus Sukkubus. This will be the first northern gig for Tony's new band.

The Ghost Of Lemora are regulars on the London scene and received rave reviews when they played Whitby. As they rarely come this far north this is a rare chance to catch them live! Joint headling the gig will be York's finest, Screaming Banshee Aircrew, who should need no introduction, as this will be their third Black Sheep appearance... The two bands represent the cream of contemporary goth talent, so this is definitely one not to miss!

Both events are on Bank Holidays and feature confirmed 2am licences. Oh yeah, and the usual Black Sheep/Friday Flock resident DJs. Full details are available here.

4. West Yorkshire Goth Weekender: 7th May - 9th May

"Not so much an event, more an excuse to drink", the WYGW brings together Yorkshire's most request- and alcohol-friendly DJs for a three night drinking marathon! The festivities start with a few jars on the 7th at Friday Flock, moving onto some serious drinking (real ale, really cheap bar!) on Saturday at Carpe Noctum (10pm-2ish, 1 in 12 Club, Bradford), and then crawling back for the hair of the (ahem) sheep on Sunday night! I'll be guesting at Carpe, and the Bradford boys will be returning the favour on the sunday night.

So, far too much going on in May then! Not much to add really, except to say that we've now got The Sisters Of Murphy, DeathBoy and Devilish Presley all confirmed for later in the year. Full details, as ever, on the website...

cheers,
Paul.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 9 - September 2004

Postby Paul on Tue Sep 21, 2004 10:40 pm

Hello and welcome to the ninth sheepish.net newsletter!

I'm afraid we have to start this month with two lots of bad news. First off, the planned joint "Halloween Party" on Sunday 31st October has been cancelled, and there will be no Black Sheep on that sunday. Full details are here, but we'll be open again (as usual) the week after. Secondly, All Living Fear have had to cancel their support slot this sunday, although Cauda Pavonis will still be headlining, and it's now only £2.50 on the door (details of ticket refunds are here).

Finally some good news! The Devilish Presley gig on the 10th October is now FREE ENTRY! What's more, we'll be having legendary Deathrock DJ Cavey Nik guesting on the decks.

1. Friday Flock

First Friday of the month: 1st October 2004 - Bar Phono from 9pm

The first in a run of theme nights, this month it's "Suited And Booted", we expect your smartest uber-goth attire, and as it's October, now is the time to try out your best WGW outfit! There will be prizes for the best-dressed, and details of all theme nights are here.

2. Black Sheep

Playing all shades of goth from 7pm down the Phono every Sunday, except when we've got bands on, then we're around the corner at the Bassment. This month's guest DJs are:

3rd Oct - Simon A (Body Electric)
17th Oct - Anti Andy
24th Oct - TBC
31st Oct - NO BLACK SHEEP! But come to our "late" Halloween bash on Friday 5th November!

3. Live Events

10th Oct - Devilish Presley - FREE GIG

Devilish Presley define UK Deathrock, it's as simple as that. They are probably the hardest touring band (goth or otherwise) in the country, and let's face it, you really should have heard of them by now! If you haven't seen them live, its Americana Gothic in the style of the Cramps, "pure Rock n Roll... and also extremely catchy" according to Meltdown. They get played a lot down Black Sheep, so you already know them, and what's more it's free entry... believe me, you'll regret it if you miss this one!

4. Other Events

A couple of non-sheepish events worth mentioning this month... the first is Carpe Noctum 's birthday bash at the "1 in 12 Club" (Bradford) on Oct 9th, which features Scary Bitches + Zombina & The Skeletones playing live. The second is Dead Stars at the Phono on the 29th Oct, playing ebm, industrial, noise etc., if you're going to miss your Phono fix that weekend (as there's no Black Sheep) then this is the place to be.

Finally, a quick look forward. November is going to be very busy! We've got our (late) "Halloween Party" at Friday Flock on the 5th, followed by Conspiracy playing down the Bassment on the 7th. Later in the month we've another free "Trad Special" on the 28th, featuring the Heartland DJs and Gothic Rock legends Rhombus playing live. It's going to be another good one!

cheers,
Paul.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 16 - May 2005

Postby Paul on Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:51 am

Hello and welcome to the sixteenth sheepish.net newsletter!

So, time to shake off those post-Whitby blues with Black Sheep's Fifth Birthday Party! Sure, there's been a goth night down the Phono since the Dark Ages, but it's five years since it became known as "Black Sheep"!

So we're celebrating on Sunday 1st May (conveniently a bank holiday - what are chances of that eh?!) with a full clubnight and one of the best line-ups we've ever had! Full details below, but we've got Killing Miranda - undoubtedly one of the biggest names in contemporary goth, we've got Screaming Banshee Aircrew - the first band to ever play Black Sheep and undoubtedly one of the most popular, and finally we've got the long-overdue 'Sheep debut for Action Directe - one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets... until now!

If such celebrations aren't giddy enough, we've also got NFD (the true successors to the Nephilim crown!) and goth/metal merchants Mist Of Avalon (our first band from outside the UK!) playing on the 29th May. What a month eh?!

1. Friday Flock

First Friday of the month: 6th May 2005 - Bar Phono from 9pm

Request-friendly DJs playing classic and contemporary goth! You don't really need to know any more than that.... hmmm, except perhaps to mention that the 'Flock DJs will also be DJing down the Bassment on both Bank Holiday Sundays this month!

2. Black Sheep

Playing all shades of goth from 7pm down the Phono every Sunday, except when we've got bands on. This months Guest DJs are:

8th May - Simon A & John B (Body Electric) TBC
15th May - Ross
22nd May - Quicksand Kerry (Zeitgeist Zero)

3. Live Events

1st May - Killing Miranda + Screaming Banshee Aircrew + Action Directe + clubnight until 2am!
29th May - NFD (ex-Nephilim) + Mist Of Avalon + clubnight until 2am!

You know who Killing Miranda are. They've got more floorfillers than any other contemporary goth band: Discotheque Necronomicon, Teenage Vampire, Touched by Jesus, I Know What You Want... the list goes on and on. It's the fifth anniversary of Black Sheep and we've got Killing Miranda playing. It really is as good as that. Screaming Banshee Aircrew were the first band to ever play at Black Sheep, which makes them the perfect choice for our birthday celebrations. They've also returned twice and they're still "a writhing riot of hair, makeup, leather, PVC and punk-goth cabaret!". The Industrial Punk sounds of Action Directe complete our Birthday bill.

NFD features Tony Pettitt (founder-member of Fields Of The Nephilim), Simon Rippin (The Nefilim) and Bob White (Sensorium) who take the best parts of classic Goth Rock such as Fields Of The Nephilim and combine it with elements of more modern music creating something new. All the dark emotional power of bands such as the Sisters Of Mercy & The Fields Of The Nephilim brought right up to date with pounding dance beats, intense driving guitar lines & drums influenced by the best of modern metal and industrial music. Support comes from Swedish Goth Metallers The Mist Of Avalon, who on any other night would be headliners in their own right! Check out their download page for plenty of mp3s, including the odd Sisters and Tool covers.

Tickets for both live nights will be available on the website up until the day before the gigs, and can be collected on the door. You can also pay on the door as usual. Both nights run from 7pm - 2am with the usual suspects on the decks between the bands and after.

4. Other Events

A respectful mention here for Carpe Noctum, which closes it's doors on the 14th May. I've never made any secret of the fact that "Carpe" has always been my favourite night out, and hopefully it'll be returning in some form or other before long. You should all go and send them off in style, but if you need any other persuading, they've got 616 Abortions, deadfilmstar and (the seemingly ubiquitous!) Action Directe playing too.

So that's how May is shaping up - it's another seriously busy month! On Friday 29th April (a couple of days before our Birthday bash) I'll be doing a spot of guest DJing at Integrationdown the George in Leeds... it's billed as "Industrial Punk/Industrial Goth" which is a slightly edgier mix than your usual goth fare. Have a look at their site for an idea of the playlists, but it should be a good different night!

cheers,
Paul.

Post subject: Sheepish Newsletter No. 21 - Ocktober 2005

Postby Paul on Mon Sep 26, 2005 2:52 pm

Hello and welcome to the twenty first sheepish.net newsletter!

October is a big juicy beast of a month for sheepish stuff, and there's a lot to get through, so for once I think a calendar format is in order!

* 1st October:

Killing Miranda + Screaming Banshee Aircrew + Zeitgeist Zero + The Way Of All Flesh
Josephs Well, Chorley Lane, Leeds. Doors 7pm, first band onstage 7.30.
Advance Tickets £6 available from the special event website: http://www.sheepish.net/oct1/

Yeah, our first Saturday gig, and at Josephs Well no less! Killing Miranda are undoubtedly one of the biggest goth bands in the country, and support comes from a veritable who's who of northern goth talent. Unmissable!

* 2nd October - Black Sheep @ Bar Phono (7pm - 11pm, £1)

* 7th - 9th October: "Black Oktober 2005"

Sheepish.net joins with Heartland for another weekend of indulgence! Full details on the special event website: http://www.sheepish.net/weekender. Special three-day tickets are available for £9.

* Day 1: 7th October:
Thank Flock It's Friday!! @ Bar Phono (9pm - 2ish)

The usual request-friendly DJs playing classic and contemporary goth! Last time we ran a "Weekender" the Flock hit capacity, so we'd recommend getting down reasonably early this month!

* Day 2: 8th October:
Heartland @ The Cellar Bar, The George (8pm - 1am)

The largest "Sisters Of Mercy" forum on the web hosts a special night dedicated to all things related to 80's goth... "party like it's 1985!"

* Day 3: 9th October:
James Ray Presents Peru 4080 + The Sisters Of Murphy + Rhombus @ the Bassment (7pm - 12pm)

An uber-rare live appearance from the legendary James Ray (he of Gangwar, Performance and notorious Sisters collaborator) who will be bringing his latest project "Peru 4080" to the Bassment. Support comes in the form of a full set from the excellent Sisters Of Murphy (reunited with their defining vocalist) and the mighty Rhombus.

* 16th October - Black Sheep @ Bar Phono (7pm - 11pm, £1)

* 23th October - Black Sheep Special
@ Bar Phono (7pm - 11pm, £1)

Featuring very special guests DJs all night - check the forums for an announcement soon...

* 30th October - Resurrected's Halloween Party @ Bar Phono (7pm - 11pm, £1)

The Resurrected DJs take over Black Sheep for an early Halloween Special!

...so then folks, that'll be October for you, hopefully something for everyone! As always the sheepish Forums are there for any last minute changes and announcements, and there should be plenty of photographic evidence in the Gallery shortly!

cheers,
Paul.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 29 - July 2006

Postby Paul on Tue Jul 11, 2006 12:40 pm

Sheepish Newsletter No. 29 - July 2006

Hello and welcome to the twenty ninth sheepish.net newsletter!

Once again there's a lot to get through this month so there's I've created a nicer html version here in the forums!

1. Friday Flock!
2. Bad Wisdom returns!
3. Sunday Goth Social
4. Forthcoming gigs!
5. Other Stuff

----

1. Friday Flock!

Friday Flock will be starting slightly later this month - at 10pm - to accommodate the Sisters Of Murphy gig beforehand. Full details of the gig can be found below, but it starts at 8pm with the band onstage at 9pm... It's only £3 which includes entry to Friday Flock as well!

This month's Flock should have been the last of the four but the Mixing Tin have very kindly extended our run and so we'll be running monthly events at the venue for the foreseeable future! One thing we hadn't noticed until June was that the Mixing Tin has air conditioning, so we've been very lucky to find such a wonderful new home!

Friday Flock - 14th July 2006
The Mixing Tin, Albion Street, Leeds
8pm - 2am

Directions to the venue (in the town centre, minutes from the station!) can be found here.

Friday Flock website: http://www.fridayflock.net

----

2. Bad Wisdom returns!

Last month we ran a special one-off event called Bad Wisdom at the Fleece in Wortley. We didn't know what to expect, but as it turned out it was ridiculously busy for an out-of-town venue, with a wonderfully rich and diverse mix of tunes.

So we've decided to do another one on Saturday 29th July! Once again it will be FREE ENTRY and will feature a very eclectic mix of goth tunes, with at least six DJs to ensure as musically varied a evening as possible! The event runs from 8pm - 1am and full information can be found on the website here!

----

3. Sunday Goth Social

The Social is still every Sunday night at The George, playing all shades of goth, past and present!

Sunday Goth Social - Every Sunday 7pm - 11pm
The Cellar Bar, The George, Leeds

Website with directions: http://www.sheepish.net/social

----

4. Forthcoming gigs!

4.1 This month:

At this month's Flock (well, just beforehand!) we've got the wonderful Sisters Of Murphy playing down the Mixing Tin. The Smurphs are more than just a tribute/covers band, they flawlessly recreate the sound of The Sisters from their classic era, in a way that sadly the real Sisters no longer do. Expect to hear all the old classics played the way they were originally intended!

Doors open 8pm and the band are on stage 9pm. Entry is only £3 and that includes entry to the July Flock which follows the gig. This event is being run as part of "Winter In July" - see the website for details.

4.2 Coming Soon:

No gig in August but we've got the excellent Spares playing in September. Spares feature Mark Manning from the legendary Children On Stun and have recently been wowing the crowds at WGW.

In October we're hoping to have Psydoll playing alongside Zeitgeist Zero - more details on that one soon!

----

5. Other Stuff

The sheepish.net forums ( you're here! ) have been given a slight makeover and a spring clean in acknowledgement of the increased traffic to the site... so why not pop in and say hello! Unfortunately we're experiencing problems with gallery at the moment, but matters are in hand and will hopefully be resolved soon!

----

That's it for this month! Sorry it's been a bit of a long one! Oh and hope to see most of you at the Flock this Friday!

cheers,
Paul.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 30 - August 2006

Sheepish Newsletter No. 30 - August 2006

Hello and welcome to the thirtieth sheepish.net newsletter!

Once again there's a lot to get through this month so I've created a nicer html version here in the forums!

1. Friday Flock!
1.1 Future Flock! (everything changes in October!)
2. Bad Wisdom
3. Sunday Goth Social
4. Forthcoming gigs! (full line up for the October gig!)
5. Carpe Noctum
6. Other Stuff

----

1. Friday Flock!

No bands this month, just dancefloor-friendly goth, industrial, 80s and alternative tunes all night in a lovely air-conditioned venue!

Friday Flock - 11th August 2006
The Mixing Tin, Albion Street, Leeds
8pm - 2am

Directions to the venue (in the town centre, minutes from the station!) can be found here.

Friday Flock website: http://www.fridayflock.net

----

1.1 Future Flock!

Everything's changing in October!

From the 6th October Friday Flock will take up residency on the First Friday of the month at "thesubculture" - Leeds' newest alternative venue! Built from the ashes of the Bassment, "thesubculture" is significantly larger than the Mixing Tin and almost twice the size of the Phono. The new Friday Flock won't feature bands but will feature the same mix of Goth, Industrial, 80s and Alternative tunes that you know and love!

But we're not abandoning the bands!

We're keeping the existing Second Friday of the month at the Mixing Tin and from the 13th October it'll become "Friday Flock Live!" - Each month FFL! will showcase some of the best bands the UK has to offer, followed by a Flock-style clubnight! It might not always be UK bands though - see details of our launch night below!

----

2. Bad Wisdom

The second Bad Wisdom was, once again, ridiculously busy for an out-of-town venue, with a wonderfully rich and diverse mix of tunes. Given the legendary Infest takes place at the end of August, we've decided to have a month off, but the third Bad Wisdom should take place on the 30th September.

----

3. Sunday Goth Social

The Social is still every Sunday night at The George, playing all shades of goth, past and present!

Sunday Goth Social - (7pm - 11pm) - The Cellar Bar, The George, Leeds

----

4. Forthcoming gigs!

4.1 Spares (ex Children On Stun) - 9th Sept (pre-Flock gig)

No gig in August but we've got the excellent Spares playing in September. Spares is the latest project from Simon Manning, guitarist from the legendary Children On Stun. Spares still enjoy the driving guitar sound of Stun, but vocals now come from Alison Gann, who has "natural flair for a somewhat Shirley Manson-esque croon" (starvox). Their forthcoming album contains tracks that nod to Massive Attack, Transiting and Skeletal Family, whilst still retaining a rich sound than remains unique. As MNS succinctly put it: "accomplished up-tempo, female vocal gothic rock exuding confidence and energy".

4.2 Friday Flock Live! - launches 13th October!

From October we'll be running monthly gigs at the Mixing Tin (see info above) and for our launch night we've got an amazing line-up:

Psydoll + Zeitgeist Zero + Schmoof + Cybercide.

More information about the bands can be found here ( http://www.sheepish.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1460 ) and there will be full details about this gig in next month's newsletter.

----

5. Carpe Noctum

An early warning that Bradford's favourite goth night returns on Saturday 23rd September at the New Beehive, a 300 capacity venue. Featuring a mix of goth, ebm, industrial, 80s and punk, Carpe Noctum is run by Gothvodka, who most of you already know as a Friday Flock resident DJ.

----

6. Other Stuff

The sheepish.net galleries are finally back on line! They're terribly out of date, but at least they're back. But we need your help! If you've got any photos from any of this year's Flocks, please get in touch, so that we can hopefully bring them back up to date.

----

That's it for this month! Sorry it's been another long one, but as you can tell there are going to be some interesting changes in the coming months!

cheers,
Paul.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 33 - November 2006

Sheepish Newsletter No. 33 - November 2006

Hello and welcome to the thirty third sheepish.net newsletter!

So... Woolstock! If you haven't heard the name before, Woolstock is a weekend event we're running 8th - 10th December featuring some of the best goth bands in the UK! Inkubus Sukkubus, NFD, Ghost Of Lemora, Zombina and more... I'll quickly mention the website but there's more details further down.

November's FFL! gig is now confirmed as Voices Of Masada and Rome Burns (followed by the usual FF-style clubnight)... two bands well known on the UK goth circuit, both musically very much in the traditional goth vein.

And before we dive in, many thanks to everyone who came along to the October Flock and made our debut night at the Subculture such fun, and indeed so busy!

----

1. Friday Flock!
2. FFLive! (forthcoming gigs!)
3. Amphetamine Logic
4. Sunday Goth Social
5. Woolstock
6. Carpe Noctum

----

1. Friday Flock!

Last month was indeed busy, but with a 300 capacity venue to play with it felt a lot more comfortable, particularly when compared to our previous venue! In many ways it feels like Friday Flock has "come home" to a venue similar in spirit to the Phono... although it's a lot larger and a lot cleaner!

It's November, which means the now traditional (late) Halloween Fancy Dress Party! You don't have to dress up, but there may well be prizes for the best outfits!

Friday Flock - 3rd November 2006
The Subculture, Wade Lane, Leeds

9pm - 2am, only £2 before 10pm

----

2. FFLive! (forthcoming gigs!)

2.1 Friday 10th November @ The Mixing Tin

Voices Of Masada + Rome Burns

Voices Of Masada embrace the classic guitar-driven goth sound most favoured in the 90s, before those dalliances with electronics become the norm. The band play subtle yet immaculately crafted songs that glide around you, with the sleek and brilliant bass underpinning the melodramatic vocals (Mercer). So, that's classic 'proper' goth then, to you and me!

Rome Burns are the UK's most charming Goth band. According to Mercer: 'Their music can at times be rawly invigorating while at others takes on a more soothing glow, dazzling you with restraint and the best lyrics the UK Goth scene has actually witnessed.' Mercer also adds that Rome Burns 'are so head and shoulders above the rest I think they've also been designing stilts', praise indeed!

Doors 8.30pm, first band onstage 9pm - Friday Flock DJs after the bands until 2am - £3.50 on the door

2.2 Friday 8th December @ The Mixing Tin

First day of Woolstock (see below).

----

3. Amphetamine Logic

Amphetamine Logic is a new collaboration between sheepish.net and Heartland, taking place on the Second Sunday of the Month at the Subculture.

DJ Quiffboy (Heartland, Sin City) plays the best in classic goth sounds, while I play, well, pretty much anything and everything else!

Sunday 12th November

Amphetamine Logic
Second Sunday Of The Month
7.30pm - 11.30pm / £2 on the door
The Subculture, Wade Lane, Leeds

Please note:
The Sunday Goth Social will still be running down the George on this Sunday.

----

4. Sunday Goth Social

The Social is still every Sunday night at The George, playing all shades of goth, past and present!

Sunday Goth Social - (7pm - 11pm) - The Cellar Bar, The George, Leeds

----

5. Woolstock

Over the weekend of 8th - 10th December we've got the following bands playing live:

Inkubus Sukkubus
NFD
Ghost Of Lemora
Zombina & The Skeletones
The Way Of All Flesh
Spares
Lesbian Bed Death
Rhombus

Full details can be found on the Woolstock website but essentially we've got four bands playing at the Mixing Tin on the Friday (with a strict limit on capacity so it doesn't get too crowded!), another four on the Saturday at Joseph's Well and a clubnight at the Subculture on Sunday. Tickets are now available (from Jumbo, Hellraiser and the website) but be warned that the Friday may well sell out before the event!

5. Carpe Noctum

Bradford's favourite goth night returned in September at it's wonderful (and rather busy) new 300 capacity venue. Featuring a mix of goth, ebm, industrial, 80s and punk, Carpe Noctum is run by Gothvodka, who most of you already know as a Friday Flock! resident DJ.

Carpe Noctum
Saturday 25th November
9pm - 3pm / £2 before 10pm
The New Beehive, Bradford

That's it for this month! Again there's a lot happening in the next couple of months, especially the rather exciting Woolstock! I hope most of you can make it!

cheers,
Paul.

Sheepish Newsletter No. 43 - September 2007

Sheepish Newsletter No. 43 - September 2007

Hello and welcome to the 43rd sheepish.net newsletter!

The main news this month is that the final Friday Flock takes place on the 7th September. Hopefully most of you will be able to come down and see the night off in style... although of course it isn't really the end of Flock, as it will be regenerating into "Transmission" from October!

Also in September we have our first free gig in ages, featuring Zeitgeist Zero, The Way Of All Flesh and the recently reformed Momento Mori. Unfortunately due to other commitments this will be the last live event until at least Easter 2008, although in more positive news we're currently provisionally planning a third Woolstock for May next year.

Finally it's worth mentioning that Black Sheep is going strong and is still free entry every Sunday at the Subculture.

----

1. Final Friday Flock
2 Transmission (from October)
3. Black Sheep
4. Sheepish Showcase (Free gig!)
5. Hard Rock
6. Other Stuff

----

1. Friday Flock

Dancefloor-orientated mix of goth, alternative, 80s, industrial and stuff from the usual request-friendly DJs!

Due to changes at the Subculture the opportunity has arisen to move Flock from a Friday to a Saturday night - second Saturday of the month, to be precise! There are full details here but essentially we realised that we couldn't still call it "Friday Flock" on a Saturday! Therefore the September Flock will, in name at least, be effectively the "Final Flock" and the last of our clubnights on the First Friday of the month. Suitably sombre attire is expected!

Friday Flock - 7th September 2007
The Subculture, Wade Lane, Leeds

9pm - 2am, only £2 before 10pm

Directions to the Subculture (on the corner of the Merrion Centre!) can be found here.

----

2. Transmission (from October)

From October "Flock" will be moving to the second Saturday of the month at the Subculture and will be known as "Transmission". We'll be making a few tweaks here and there, but rest assured it'll still be the same clubnight you know and love!

Transmission begins Saturday 13th October 2007
The Subculture, Wade Lane, Leeds

----

3. Black Sheep

"All shades of goth, past and present" every Sunday night with request-friendly residents along with a different guest DJ every week!

Every Sunday - FREE ENTRY!
7pm-11pm at The Subculture, Wade Lane, Leeds

Except for Sunday 23rd September when there's going to be a Free gig night, see "Sheepish Showcase" below.

----

4. Sheepish Showcase (Free gig!)

The first "Sheepish Showcase" at the Subculture features three live bands and is free entry to all!

Zeitgeist Zero + The Way Of All Flesh + Momento Mori

Zeitgeist Zero are undeniably Goth, but not in the traditional sense. Simultaneously jaunty and jaundiced, they have been described by Kaleidoscope as "like Switchblade Symphony shredded through Garbage's mid-period, then drip-fed Lydia Lunch". Playing guitar-fuelled electro goth for the next generation of goths that we see in our clubs today (Hardwired), Zeitgeist Zero have recently played at both Dark City and Gotham festivals (not to mention WGT last year), however this will be their first hometown gig this year.

The Way Of All Flesh play "unashamed goth rock", evocative of the early 90s but with all that bombast and melodrama stripped out. Think of Vendemmian or Revolution By Night with a contemporary edge and you're getting close. The Fleshies debut album "Esprit d'Escalier" comes highly recommended, and this will be their first Leeds gig since the first Woolstock last December.

Momento Mori cut their teeth back in the 1980s, touring the UK and Europe with bands such as Sins of the Flesh and the (Screaming) Marionettes. Having split in the early 90s, Momento Mori have recently reformed to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Live @ Black Sheep - 23th September 2007
Doors 7pm, first band onstage 7.30pm
Free Entry

5. Hard Rock

Hard Rock is a new monthly Classic Rock / Heavy Metal / Power Metal night run by sheepish - it's something a little different to our usual goth/industrial fare!

2nd Wednesday of the month
8pm - Midnight. £3 entry

6. Other Stuff

6.1 Wendyhouse

Still the biggest dark alternative night out in the area!

Saturday 15th September - Leeds University

That's all for this month, hopefully see some of you at the Final Flock, and look out for the new Transmission flyers appearing soon!

cheers,
Paul.
