BLACK SHEEP is back!
(and we're got Cybercide returning for a "bleep" special at the Mixing Tin - see below!)
Yes, it's exactly a year since the Phono closed it's doors and Sunday Club/Black Sheep metamorphosised into SGS, but now it's transforming back into Black Sheep... at least for five weeks!
Black Sheep starts again on Sunday 28th January 2007 at the Subculture (previously the Bassment, where Black Sheep used to host bands, and now Friday Flock's home!) at it's usual time 7pm - 11pm. We've initially got a five week run until the end of February, with the hope that we get enough people through the doors to justify bringing Black Sheep back permanently.
What's more Black Sheep will be FREE ENTRY on both the opening night and ALL February!
REDSHIFT
We've run quite a few different nights in our time, but we've never gone bleep... until now! RedShift is a one-off night of Industrial - EBM - Electro - Stuff(!) at the Mixing Tin on Friday 12th January 2007. RedShift features seven DJs (in a Bad Wisdom style) and a live set from Cybercide. The DJs will be Traumahound (Control Frequency), Urban Cannibal (Nightmare), Midian (Blackout), Organic, Dissekt and the Friday Flock residents.
WOOLSTOCK
Was wonderful! Thank you to everyone who came along, it was undoubtably the biggest and most exciting thing that we've ever done! There are still a few T-shirts left (only L and XL I'm afraid) which will be available from Friday Flock and the Woolstock website.
FRIDAY FLOCK
Has it's own website here (you knew that!) and is the first sheepish event of 2007, being on Friday 5th January.
Once again, there's lots on! Why not keep up to date with what's going on by joining the Mailing List and/or our rather busy Forums?!
Footnote: As you may be aware the closure of our original venues caught us a little by surprise, and even though that was over four six eight ten twelve months ago we've been very lazy and so there is a lot of the sheepish.net website that is currently out of date, if not downright misleading... sorry! |

Woolstock!
We've got a massive weekendery-type thing planned for December! It's called "Woolstock", it's over the weekend of 8th - 10th December and it features the following brilliant bands:
Inkubus Sukkubus
NFD
The Ghost Of Lemora
Zombina & The Skeletones
The Way Of All Flesh
Spares
Lesbian Bed Death
Rhombus
There are full details on the special Woolstock website, including directions, online ticket ordering and schedules etc!
Before then we've got the excellent Voices Of Masada and Rome Burns playing at FFL! on Friday 10th November, along with the usual Flock-style clubnight until 2am. FFL! takes place at the Mixing Tin and full details can be found here.
The next Friday Flock is the Halloween Fancy Dress Party tomorrow night, and then there's the Christmas Flock on Friday 1st December. Friday Flock is Leeds' favourite goth night (oh yes!) running every First Friday of the month at the Subculture.
The last Amphetamine Logic of the year will be on Sunday 10th November, with a special "Fuzzy Logic" version in December as part of Woolstock.
Finally the Sunday Goth Social is still every Sunday night at the George, full details of which can be found here.
Goodness, there's too much going on! Woolstock is looking particularly exciting! Woolstock tickets are available from the website, Jumbo and Hellraiser (in Leeds) and also at Friday Flock. Full details here! There you go, two plugs in one update!!

Everything's Changing!
Before we talk about the October changes, a quick reminder that Bad Wisdom returns to the Fleece on Saturday 30th September, still completely free and featuring an eclectic mix of DJs playing their favourite goth (and related) tunes! (details here!)
From October Friday Flock goes twice a month in two venues...
First Friday Every Month
From October 6th Friday Flock returns to it's traditional slot on the First Friday of the month but at an exciting new 300 capacity venue - thesubculture! (details here, directions there!)
To celebrate we're having a special "Corporate Goth" dress theme - details here!
Second Friday Every Month
From October 13th we've got a new monthly night starting at the Mixing Tin called FFLive! which will feature the best goth/industrial (and related) bands followed by the Friday Flock DJs! (details here!)
The launch night features the combined firepower of Psydoll + Zeitgeist Zero + Schmoof + Cybercide - see the Live pages for full details!
Amphetamine Logic
We're also launching a new night on the Second Sunday of the Month at thesubculture called Amphetamine Logic - the first one is on Sunday 15th October, more details here!
And finally, don't forget that the Sunday Goth Social will still be running on every Sunday night (yes, even when AL is on!) down the George, for those who prefer to chat rather than dance!

Sheep on a Plane!
There's an awful lot of stuff happening in the world of sheepish in the coming months!
First up is the return of Black Sheep! Yes, the notorious weekly goth night that started life as the Sunday Club and was probably one of the longest running goth nights in the country! It's only back for one night though - Sunday 3rd September - and it's completely FREE, so do come along to the Adelphi for an evening of nostalgia. Full details can be found here. (Please note that there will be no SGS on this date.)
September is a busy month, as a week later we've got the brilliant Spares (ex-Children On Stun) playing before Friday Flock - both at the Mixing Tin on the 8th September... more details about the band and the gig can be found here.
At the end of the month we've got another FREE Bad Wisdom on the 30th September - details here.
Looking forward and October is the month of the big changes, you can read about things in more detail in the recent newsletter, but essentially Friday Flock is splitting into separate gig and club nights. The gig part will stay at the Mixing Tin on the second Friday of the month, while the club part is moving to thesubculture - Leeds newest alternative venue!
So from the 6th October Friday Flock! takes up residency at thesubculture on the First Friday of the month, whilst on the 13th October we start Friday Flock Live! at the Mixing Tin.
For the first FFL! we've got an outstanding line-up: Psydoll + Zeitgeist Zero + Schmoof + Cybercide - see full details here.
Finally, the Sunday Goth Social continues to run on every Sunday night at The George - except for on the 3rd September where we'll all be down the Adelphi for Black Sheep!
Footnote: As you may be aware the closure of our original venues caught us a little by surprise, and even though that was over four six eight months ago we've been very lazy and so there is a lot of the sheepish.net website that is currently out of date, if not downright misleading... sorry! |

Bad Wisdom!
We're running a special one-off FREE event on Saturday 24th June - it's called "Bad Wisdom" and it's going to feature at least 8 DJs to ensure a very eclectic and varied evening indeed! "Bad Wisdom" has it's own sexily minimalistic website here.
Looking forward and the July Flock (14/07/2005) features The Sisters Of Murphy performing live before the Flock proper. As you probably know by now the Sisters are an excellent homage to a certain other band with a very similar name! Doors 8pm, band onstage 9pm, and your £3 includes entry to the Flock which follows at 10pm. This gig is once again in association with Heartland, and forms part of "Winter In July".
In other Flock-related news, after our trial run at the Mixing Tin the venue have very kindly extended our run, so we'll now be Flocking at the Tin every second Friday of the month for the foreseeable future. For anyone who wasn't at the recent Flock, the Mixing Tin now has air conditioning, which is going to be very nice this summer!
Finally the Forums have been very busy lately, mostly involving the regulars from the Sunday Goth Social, which is still every Sunday night at the George... why not pop along to either and say "hello"!?!

Chock-a-block Flock!
I really need to update this don't I?!
The launch of the new Friday Flock in April was staggeringly successful, some might say too successful! The Mixing Tin was absolutely rammed for Screaming Banshee Aircrew's set, and I think everyone was taken aback by just how busy it was, not least the venue's management!
All the same, we acknowledge it was a little too crowded for comfort earlier on (we could have filled the Phono twice over!) but please bear in mind that this can easily be attributed to the band's popularity, so please don't let that put you off coming in May!
So no bands in May, just the usual request-friendly DJs playing the best mix of contemporary and classic goth, industrial and alternative tunes around!
In other news, a quick reminder that the Sunday Goth Social is going from strength to strength, with April being it's busiest month so far! The Social is the natural successor to the weekly Black Sheep, featuring all shades of goth past and present, with the music loud enough on the dancefloor, but quiet enough for a civilised conversation at the bar. If you haven't been yet, it's probably time you checked it out! More details here.
Finally, as you may be aware the closure of our original venues caught us a little by surprise, and even though that was over four months ago we've been very lazy and so there is a lot of the sheepish.net website that is currently out of date, if not downright misleading... sorry! |

Return of the Flock!
After a three month absence Friday Flock finally returns to Leeds on Friday 14th April 2006 and we've got a sexy new venue - The Mixing Tin - right in the heart of the city centre! It's still the usual request-friendly suspects playing an irreverent mix of dancefloor-orientated goth and related stuff... but there's been a few changes too. Check out the full announcement here and there's loads of new information (like directions - how useful!) in the Friday Flock Forums.
We've also got some gigs planned too... oh yes, we've been busy when we were away! Check out the Live part of the website for further details, but we kick off on Friday 14th April 2006 with the legendary Screaming Banshee Aircrew playing at The Mixing Tin - which by an unlikely coincidence is exactly the same night that Friday Flock returns... how's that going to work!?! Well, the band will be on before the clubnight but it's all explained here.
Oh yes, and as a special treat to celebrate the return of Friday Flock we're making the night FREE ENTRY before 9pm!!
Finally, as you may be aware the closure of our original venues caught us a little by surprise, so there is a lot of the sheepish.net website that is currently out of date if not downright misleading... So please bear with us while we bring it up to date! |
