Clubs/Events
in Yorkshire
Thank Flock It's Friday!!
The other Black Sheep(!), first friday of the month at Bar Phono in Leeds.
Carpe
Noctum
Highly recommended monthy event held at Bradford's 1 in 12 club.
Occasionally hosts bands.
Implant
Popular Industrial/EBM Night currently looking for a new home in Manchester.
Gog Promotions
Promoters who run both a monthly event called Black Veil at the Adelphi in Leeds and an annual festival.
The
Wendy House
Massive monthly event held at Leeds University.
Whitby Gothic Weekend
As Cud once memorably sang, Only (A Prawn in Whitby).
Bands
New
Model Army
Bradford's favourite crusties are not dead shock! Despite rarely
recording, they're always excellent live and are still played to
death down the Phono.
The
Sisters Of Mercy
Used to be the finest cabaret band on the planet. Now it's the Murphys.
The
Screaming Banshee Aircrew
"A writhing riot of hair, makeup, leather, PVC and punk-goth cabaret!" An excellent band who were the first ever to play at Black Sheep.
Zeitgeist
Zero
"A band not afraid to use the 'G' word. You want guitars, we got
guitars, you want bleepy shite, we got bleepy shite, you want miserable
lyrics, we have a wide range in stock.
Warning: Not to be used by shiny, happy people. Go and hold hands
somewhere else!". Zeitgeist Zero played at Black Sheep in September 2003
Psychophile
"Gung-ho hedonism... Darkwave pop at its finest". Excellent
Wasp Factory band who played at Black Sheep in September 2003.
Mondo
Suave
Not strictly speaking goth, but undoubtably the best live band out
of Las Vegas to have been exiled in Leeds.
Now dearly deported.
Little
Match Girl
Heavy-duty electronic metal band out of Leeds, featuring retro analogue
equipment with powerful industrial guitars and vocals. Little Match Girl played at Black Sheep in September 2003.
Action
Directe
"Leeds's premier industrial art-terrorists. The rhythmic fist of
the proletariat. Electro-revolutionary leftist agit-pop for the
twenty-first century" it says here. Soap-dodgers then, I'll bet.
All Living Fear
Scene veterans All Living Fear brought their quality trad goth to Black Sheep in December 2004.
Zombina & The Skeletones
You must have heard of Zombina by now, but if not, get thee to their site immediately! Zombina played Black Sheep in December 2004.
Goth
Resources
net.goth
Wonderfully large listing site dedicated to everything goth in the
UK. we're in there somewhere!
Deathrock.co.uk
The definitive Deathrock site, well it would be, with that
URL! Loads of stuff about all the best new bands, you know,
the ones playing Black Sheep this year!
International
Gothic Club Listing
Up-to-date club listings page. We're probably in there somewhere
too!
People (Club
Regulars)
Smiley
Goth
Ever reliant club regular, muffin admirer and favoured darling on
the Sheep forums! Recently updated with pictures of curiously
semi-clad ladies from the Whitby gathering...
Sarah
Orange
Goth Socialite Extraordinaire! No local event is complete with Ms
Orange's camera, her site contains a massive photographic archive
of local events.
The
Blue Zone
Smurf is one of our loyal regulars, and his site features a staggering
amount of photographs, many featuring Sheepy people.
The
Gothic Revival
Pyromancer is a recent convert to the Sheep. His site contains reviews
of local events, including a fair few Black Sheep ones.
Shopping
DeadTech
"The death of one brings life to another", Deadtech make innovatively designed future retro clothing for the cybergoth/industrial scene.
Dark
Angel
The Leeds shop has sadly closed, but they're still selling their made to measure gothic clothing online. Look out for
pictures of Spider and Jonathan in the online catalogue!
Hellraiser Records
Probably the only shop in Leeds that stocks all the latest goth/ebm/industrial releases. Highly Recommended
Nightbreed
Top record label. The shop will be sorely missed.
Resurrection
Records
Reliable mail-order company, slow website, but great service.
Other Resources
Portal
Of Evil
If you have several hours to waste, then this is possibly one of
the worst places to go. Recommended, obviously.
Goth Goose
This was a link to the Catty Goths' Reality Check, but they seem
to have disappeared again. Goth Goose was better anyway, and at
least the site's still up, even if it hasn't been updated for years.
